Here is a selection of some of the most asked questions, which will hopefully answer some of the questions you may have!
Feel free to get in touch should you have any other questions for me.
How does one decide on a photographer for such a special day?
It's no secret that choosing a wedding photographer is no easy task. There are sooo many to choose from and so many factors to consider.
I think the most important factors would be 1. your budget, 2. how much you admire their work of course, and 3. how well you connect with the photographer.Â
The best way to determine these factors is to firstly decide what your budget is. Then to inquire pricing and packages from those who's work you admire the most. You can then create a shortlist of 3 to 5 photographers who fits your budget and delivers great work. I suggest setting up an appointment with each of them and get to know them and how they work. You will instantly see yourself either working with them or not.
Do you take candid photos?
Absolutely. Documenting the day is my main focus point. This includes candid moments of the laughter, sillyness and sometimes even the tears that pass through the day.
What about family photos?
A wedding is one of the rare opportunities where you have everyone at the same place. Of course we need to document that! Photos with your loved ones will end up being some of the most treasured photos in your album. My only advice would be to have a list for the group photos and someone such as your MC (that knows everyone) to call out the names when the time comes. This speeds up the process and ensures no one gets left out. We wouldn't want any family drama on an already stressful day!
How much time is needed to capture everything?
It all depends on your schedule for the day and what is possible. If you need any help setting up a timeline for the day - please feel free to ask me! But a good guideline to work according to would be:
Venue and décor: 15-20 min
Groom getting ready: 20-30 min
Bridal details (dress, shoes, jewellery, etc): 15-20 min
Bridal Shoot (a few hair & make up shots, getting dressed & portraits): 60 min
Ceremony: 30-60 min (depends on you and the minister)
Register, confetti and congratulations: 15-20 min
Family/group Photos: 20-40min (depending on the amount of groups)
Bridal Party: 20 min
Bride & Groom Shoot: 60 min
Reception: 2-4 hours (depending on how quickly the formalities are completed)
What is the "golden hour" and should I plan my shoot around it?
The golden hour is the time just after sunrise, or just before sunset - which provides gorgeous warm, soft, and romantic light for photos. The golden hour is any photographer’s dream light to shoot in, in fact I always try to schedule my engagement sessions in this time. So if possible, try and plan your photos around it. I recommend starting an hour and a half before sunset, perhaps starting with the bridal party photos and then the bride & groom photos directly after that - in the last hour before the sun sets. You won’t regret it!
Can we have the RAW photos or the photos you didn't edit?
Unfortunately, it's a no to both. I don't give out any unprocessed photos for a very simple reason. The post-processing is part of the art and which makes up my unique style. Capturing the photo is only half the job - the rest is perfecting it afterwards. Think of it like a painter handing over his canvas - except there is only a drawing with no paint on yet. Why would you buy an unfinished piece of art?
The same applies to certain photos taken, but not edited and included in your album. Rest assured that I will always edit and give as many usable photos as I possibly can. The only photos that don't make the cut are the ones where I am testing the light (which is a lot), duplicates (usually when we are going for the 5th group photo but there is always someone blinking!), blurry ones, or horribly unflattering ones. So there is really no reason to want these photos.
How long before we get our photos?
With weddings I always try to give a sneak preview of about 20-30 images within the first 2 weeks, depending on my schedule. For the final and complete album of your photos, 6-8Â weeks.
How do we book you?
First by inquiring availability for your date and choosing the perfect package to suit your needs. After that you will receive the invoice along with my contract. Booking is secured with a 50% retainer and signing of my contract.
How long in advance should we book you?
As soon as you have set a date and booked a venue - the next step is to book your photographer. It also depends on your date. I have been booked 2 weeks before a wedding and I have also been booked 12 months in advance. Summer months fill up the quickest, while winter months tend to be less busy.
